Process Control Unit (PCU)
The Process Control Unit (PCU) represents systems in the process industry. The PCU consists of a bench top process rig that will allow the investigation of:
- Control of discrete processes
- PC, PLC, PID or manual control
- Temperature, level, flow control and pressure
- Graphical monitoring of real time processes
Water contained in a sump tank is pumped around the process rig to a process tank where it can be heated. The flow rate and the heat input can be controlled, manual and computer controlled valves are included in the system to allow the flow of water to be diverted through a forced air cooler. PRT temperature sensors are used to determine the temperature of the water in the sump, the process tank and the water flowing. The data from the signals are displayed on the front and relayed to the controller.
The graphical based control software for use with the PC control provides PID control and data logging. Fault switches are included for the teaching of diagnostics.
